Horytna “Our Freedom” Radio, was introduced to the media world and the internet web as an independent cultural and news radio, paying more attention to the young people and open to various trends and ideas, within a rational framework, characterized by being balanced and accurate in getting the information. It relys on press and radio broadcasting methods of a high level of professionalism put in a simple style and in sound yet easy Arabic language. It aims to serve the community through the culture of human rights, the concepts of democracy and citizenship, the spirit of tolerance and cultivating the desire to participate in the process of total reform which our societies need.
Horytna “Our Freedom” Radio, came to defend the freedom of the nation, its independence and sovereignty. Meanwhile to express the hopes and dreams of the Egyptians and to acknowledge their rights to have free media outlets that reflects the reality, transmits the events and spreads knowledge without promoting myths, superstitious and ignorance.
Horytna “Our Freedom” Radio, will stand against the calls for hatred, discrimination, extremism and incitement to violence, through its various light and fast, meanwhile objective programs.
Horytna “Our Freedom” Radio, is committed to article 19 of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” which states the following:
“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
Also it is committed to article 19 of the “International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights” which states the following:
- Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference.
- Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.
- The exercise of the rights provided for in paragraph 2 of this article carries with it special duties and responsibilities. It may therefore be subject to certain restrictions, but these shall only be such as are provided by law and are necessary:
- For respect of the rights or reputations of others;
- For the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals.
Also it is committed to the Press Charter that was approved by the Supreme Council of Press in 1998, as well as the Declaration on Fundamental Principles concerning the contribution of the media in the support of peace, international understanding, promoting human rights, the fight against racism and apartheid and incitement to war.
