More BBC Psychosis Scaremongering? Re: THC/CBD Levels in Sussex and Kent

Did anyone see or hear the BBC's report on 'Skunk'- more commonly known as cannabis - brought around the Sussex and Kent regions yesterday? If not, an undercover reporter brought various bags of cannabis from various cannabis sellers, these were then sent for analysis to determine the THC/CBD levels. Here are the results from that analysis:

Tunbridge Wells

3% THC / 0.08% CBD

Hastings

7% THC / 0.09% CBD

Brighton

4% THC / 0.07% CBD

Rainham

7% THC / 0.2% CBD

Eastbourne

11% THC / 0.08% CBD

Dartford

4% THC / 0.09% CBD

Maidstone

6% THC / 0.1% CBD

From these figures the BBC stated that the cannabis smoking public had a high risk of psychosis, due to the low levels of CBD. Now CBD is effective as atypical antipsychotics in treating  schizophrenia, so that said I'll agree with the BBC that CBD is a vital part in the make up of cannabis and can be used to treat psychosis. (By the way there is still no genuine evidence that supports cannabis as a causal effect of psychosis - to the best of my knowledge).

Now let me point you in the direction of Bedrocan International Inc', (http://www.bedrocaninternational.com/prod/products.php) this company supplies medical grade cannabis to research facilities globally and also to patients that need cannabis.

Here is an excerpt from their web page:

"Bedrocan’s cannabis products are produced in accordance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and World Health Organization (WHO) standards for botanical drug substances. We operate a quality management system that is ISO 9001:2008 certified for the production of medicinal cannabis. All of our products meet WHO requirements for the absence of harmful molds, fungi, bacteria and heavy metals that pose a serious health risk for individuals with compromised immune systems. Our cannabis varieties are standardized and clearly labeled for cannabinoid content, including THC (Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (Cannabidiol), and CBN (Cannabinol)."

So with the above paragraph in mind, I would now like to show you the THC/CBD levels of their 'WHO' and 'GAP' approved cannabis:

Bedrocan

THC = 19%, CBD < 1%

Bedrobinol

THC = 12%, CBD < 1%

Bediol

THC = 6%, CBD = 7%

Now as you can see, the THC levels from two of their products (Bedrocan and Bedrobinol) are nearly double and in some instances triple the THC levels of the cannabis brought by the BBC's undercover reporter with the exception of Eastbourne, not only that, but the CBD levels of the cannabis brought by the undercover reporter are not that far from where they should be - using the Bedrocan Int' Inc' CBD levels as a guide. So only Rainham and Maidstone really had significantly low CBD ratios.

So a majority of the BBC's story is quite simply good ol' fashioned scaremongering, and whilst they continue to promote this drivel and send out a bad message about cannabis the situation isn't likely to change anytime soon regarding the safe regulation of cannabis. We need to listen to the doctors, scientists, psychologists, pharmacolgists and most of all the sufferers who are using cannabis to treat their ailments, because the media aren't doing the cause any favours. If the cannabis laws were repealed then maybe the breeders of the cannabis strains we see around us would be able to get scientific help with creating cannabis which was equal in THC/CBD levels. I know of two huge breeders - who I wont name as I don't have their permission to do so - who are currently working on cannabis strains that hope to achieve 1:1 THC/CBD levels. These breeders are working to help sufferers find that perfect strain for each ailment that there is, they should be commended for their work, after all they risk losing their liberty if caught. Is this the world we live in, where honest people like these run the risk of being jailed, yet huge media companies can get away with lying to the masses and suffer no consequences?

The truth is out there my friends, if you don't believe me then research for yourself, just do me a favour, don't lap up whatever the media says and nod in agreement with it if you don't know the facts, because that puts you in the same boat as them and the lying politicians. (Not all of the politicians are liars may I add, some are actually aware of the situation and are trying to remedy it, so my anger isn't aimed at all of them, just the ignorant majority.)

There is a huge elephant in the room, and that elephant is cannabis.

To the BBC, you failed again. Don't expect any TV license fees from me until you get your act together.

(If I tagged you and you wish not to be tagged, please let me know and I shalll remove it and I apologise for doing so)
