The earthquake destroyed up to 80 buildings in Wan and Ercis (a district of Wan). According to Reuter, residents in Wan are “using hands and shovels and working under floodlights and flashlights, hearing voices of survivors crying for help under mounds of shattered concrete in pitch darkness and bitter cold”.People in Wan need urgent humanitarian aid.
Kurdish Studies and Student Organisation ( KSSO) appeals to all UK organizations working to help those affected by earthquakes and all Kurdish communities in the UK to mobilize their members and resources for the Kurdish earthquake victims in Wan.
We call upon all UK aid organisations and Kurdish communities in the UK to come to Institute of Education's cafe (right opposite to SOAS) for an urgent meeting on Tuesday at 6:00pm to discuss what we can do for the Kurdish earthquake victims in Wan.
