Team Wakestock are incredibly excited to announce the latest additions to the line up. Joining Biffy Clyro, The Wombats, Ellie Goulding and Example this year are a whole host of dance music stars including Chase and Status, Zane Lowe, Wretch 32, Nero, Caspa, Modestep, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Redlight. With tickets already on sale the 2011 bill is really hotting up and with the latest acts announced this week you need to get your hands on yours now! You can book them here through our brand new website.
In a week which has seen Biffy Clyro win Best Live Act at the NME awards, huge hype building around The Wombats new single and Example destroying dancefloors across the UK on his latest tour, Wakestock HQ are thrilled to announce the latest additions to their 2011 line up.
Returning to the festival this year is the mighty CHASE AND STATUS. This incredible duo continue to dominate the electronic music scene the world over with their second studio album going gold in it’s first week of release in January. Their Wakestock set will no doubt draw some of the biggest crowds of the weekend.
DJ and Radio 1 legend ZANE LOWE will also be making a return to the shores of the Llyn. Lowe has become one of the most influential and recognisable figures in modern music. With a schizophrenic yet encyclopaedic musical perspective, he jumps from rock star to raver with a flick of the crossfader. This man has been fundamental in finding and championing some of the hottest acts of the British music scene today, through his flagship evening show on Radio 1 and he brings and energy to Wakestock that is hard to beat His previous sets at Wakestock have been incredible and we can’t wait to welcome him back.
Grime MC and rapper WRETCH 32 is one of the breakthrough acts tipped for the top in 2011 by both the BBC and MTV. His first single Traktor charted at number 5 in January, and the next single Unothodox which features Example is set for release in April. With both Example and Tinie Tempah citing Wretch as the man to watch this year we can’t wait to welcome him to Wakestock.
US hip hop duo CHIDDY BANG will be making the trip from Philly to play North Wales. Their debut single “Opposite of Adults” was a huge hit in the UK last year and undoubtably their first album will be as well received when they release it in the spring. We reckon it will be a big hit with the Wakestock audience as well.
If you know dub step, you will know CASPA & MC ROD AZLAN. Known for some of the best remix skills in the business this guy produces dancefloor bomb after bomb and not content with producing, hosting and running labels, he will be rocking the Wakestock tent this year.
Another act who are blowing up this year after being featured on the BBC sound of 2011 poll are dub step and drum and bass duo NERO. Their single “Me & You” made it on to BBC Radio 1′s A List playlist in December 2010, and their second single, “Guilt” made its premiere when Zane Lowe selected it as his Hottest Record in the World in February this year. Signed to Chase and Status’s label MTA Records this duo are set of for big things this year.
Joining them on the Wakestock line up is up and coming DJ TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS or TEED or short. This Oxford native has been causing quite a stir with his bizarre appearance and amazing live shows. With three EP’s under his belt and an array of admirers including Radio 1’s Annie Mac, this dino boy will go down well with Wakestock’s crowds.
If that’s wasn’t enough we have also got live dubstep fourpiece MODE STEP joining the party. If you don’t already know this band then we will let you into a secret - they are going to be massive.
RED LIGHT is a Bristol based DJ who in his original incarnation as DJ Clipz, has risen through the ranks to become one of the most celebrated and respected artists in drum and bass. Clipz has now adopted the Redlight alter ego to explore new musical territory. After an amazing reception as last summer’s festivals, the release of his single “Rock the House / Twist Up” and landing his own “In New DJ’s We Trust” Show on Radio 1 2011 is set to be his year.
YASMIN is another artist who comes to Wakestock off the back of a new album release. Her Labrinth produced album comes out in May and follows her trip around the UK supporting Chase and Status on their UK tour.
With BIFFY CLYRO, THE WOMBATS, ELLIE GOULDING, EXAMPLE, JAGUAR SKILLS, JAYMO AND ANDY GEORGE, DANNY BYRD & DJ FRESH already announced and loads more acts still to be revealed in the coming weeks, Wakestock 2011 is not to be missed.
Don’t forget that tickets are already on sale and are proving to be more popular than ever. With a line up like this year’s we recommend booking yours as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
