The Convention was adopted in Dublin by 107 states on 30 May 2008 and signed in Oslo on 3 December the same year. 66 States are party to the Convention which became binding international law when it entered into force on 1 August 2010. By 2o September 2011 a total of 111 states have joined the Convention, as States Parties or Signatories.
The First Meeting of States Parties took place in Vientiane, Laos, 9 – 12 November 2010. The Second Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions will take place in Beirut, Lebanon on 12-16 September.
