Just a quick update for people on the Council of Europe Summit, Strasbourg yesterday. Important statements in support of Dale Farm from the key main speakers including Thomas Hammarberg, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. Important because they are now part of an official record of a high level Council of Europe meeting and as such *will* be recognised at UK government level and I do believe they will affect decisions taken in the coming days.

Our children have dramatically different life chances depending on where they were born. In Japan or Sweden they can expect to live more than 80 years; in Brazil, 72 years; India, 63 years; and in one of several African countries, fewer than 50 years. And within countries, the differences in life chances are dramatic and are seen worldwide. The poorest of the poor have high levels of illness and premature mortality. But poor health is not confined to those worst off. In countries at all levels of income, health and illness follow a social gradient: the lower the socioeconomic position, the worse the health. It does not have to be this way and it is not right that it should be like this. Where systematic differences in health are judged to be avoidable by reasonable action they are, quite simply, unfair. It is this that we label health inequity. Putting right these inequities – the huge and remediable differences in health between and within countries – is a matter of social justice. Reducing health inequities is, for the Commission on Social Determinants of Health (hereafter, the Commission), an ethical imperative. Social injustice is killing people on a grand scale."

Ten minutes on. My thoughts are astray. the radio man takes my line away. The lady in my life has taken my children to school and I sit and key-tap like a lost old fool. My day gets arranged, parts for a car, walking intotown to sort the business machine, nothing for something makes me feel unclean. Seductive filth. The radio's line. Politics and honesty make my dreams fade. Northern Irish sadness, money and plans. Interviewing ruthlessness- eviscerate the man. My old, old shoes fit me better than the collars of the radio men. There's a juvenile sitting inside this skin wondering what to do about the world it is in. I can walk this way, I can walk theirs. I wish there was a cleaner path that allowed my mind to clear. My old man's shoes fit me better every time I look.

Round and round in circles. Dizzy with the dance. I've had opportunities and I've had the chance to change the way this world works, to make the day less grey. I've sat and thought for far too long and thrown it all away. My shoes walk to the kettle, the current adds the heat, I turn round and sit back down in my old man's swivel seat. I tap the keys and listen to the radio's droning tone- BA and Burt, politics and reportage chewed into a mess, downright lies and offices, elections and the rest, Ghandi and respectfulness, Brighton and it's conferences. Round and round the radio talks and nothing gets done. Next week, next year, a decade further on. The people change,get older, the discussion lingers on. Tune in 2023 and hear it carry on.

Are you really sure that you don't understand why the IRA have re-started their bombing campaign in the United Kingdom?
On the morning after the Cannary Warf bomb blast I was watching the TV. It was the time when children's programmes should have been on. The were late by an hour because of the discussions on the bombing, which my eight year old son and six year old daughter watched because their grandmother lives in London and because the kept expecting the cartoons to come on. The discussion ended and their programmes came on. There was no mention of the bombing- why should there be? These were programmes for little ones, how can anyone expect children to know anything about such things? OK, a possibly valid point, leaving a aside facts such as the numbers of children my sons age who shoulder guns and fight wars in countries world wide. After these 'kiddies' programmmes came programmes for the adults who like to watch tv in the mornings. Taking it for read that the bombing was THE major event that has happened in the UK for some time it was surprising to me how little there was on this event. Lot's about minor life items- it was as if the bomb had happened in another country.
Now, look for a moment at another major happening, The Scott Report. 700 people thown out of work. Directors and their families dragged through mire of public criticism and social disgrace. Machinary supplied to a country that has a proven track record of atrocities against ethnic groups and known affiliations to terrorist groups, including the IRA. government guidelines changed to fascilitate the sales. What happens? Nothing. It is as if none of this matters. Who cares if lies are told in parliament? Who cares if moral values- caring for lives, believing in honesty and straight dealing- who cares if these things can be thrown aside when money and government policy dictates that they are now a block to further goals?
Another seemingly random jump of thought takes me to the Newbury bypass. What has that to do with bombing and maiming innocent people? Think about this. If I belonged to a group of nature loving travellers and we decided to move into the woods that the bypass is going through how long would it be before there were shouts of anger from all corners about us despoiling a site of special scientific interest? Would we be allowed to live in harmony with the wood? Would the law be enforced, and even changed if needs be, so that this site could be cleared of our unnatural interreaction with it? The laws relating to this SSI would be all important. The SSI would be all important. So how come a swathe of it can be completely destroyed? Why is the site of no interest suddenly when others deem it so?

The Industrial Revolution altered many things. One of these seems to have been the mindset of the farmers who decided that wealth and position were quality items to aim for as part of their quest in life,
Farm labourers stopped sharing houses with their ‘masters’. The Enclosure Act removed the small strip cultivations and parcelled land into larger fields, each with its own crop, covering multiple acres rather than smaller, sub acre plots of differing focus’. Wages dropped to appalling levels and machinery took over tasks that required ten people suddenly required far fewer. Admittedly jobs in industrial areas suddenly required more labour but since there were so many unemployed or unemployable people around this left many in dire poverty.

When you build a society and define a process that acts as a control and as a cover for acts of human failing such as self obsession, greed, cruelty, over the top pride in one’s own importance, arrogance and the like then you build something that can never be sorted out properly until that control process is altered or removed.
Capitalism has such a thing. It’s called money. With it being in control of so much as it is at the moment it is very unlikely that poverty and death from lack of necessities is going to clear up at all, let alone in the time periods being touted as possible, whether this be the 2015 of the UN Millennium Declaration or the revision of 2165 put forward by those who had to respond to the Declarations requests.
Which means that people in their multiple millions upon millions are going to die unfulfilled lives during that time. Children are going to die in their millions upon millions without adding to this thing called the Human Race. Think how many Stephen Hawkings there are out their who will never say the first word of something that could alter society for the better, for ever.
Look around. Use the most powerful instruments you can. Count the other species of carbon based life forms on any of the bodies you can see out there in the rest of the Universe. So far I hear they have found none. Nothing for light years.
A flea is light years ahead of anything living out there within reach of our most powerful technology. The germs we kill in our kitchens every day are more together than anything we know is actually out there in the billions of square light years around us.
So, shouldn’t we suddenly learn, wholesale, that this whole planet, with everything on it, is a most amazing resource. As the surfers say ‘totally valuable’.
Which suddenly means that every living thing becomes invaluably valuable.
It also means that we need to start building on the moon and other planets ASAP!
Remember the huge machines of the Victorian era? Nuts and bolts as big as a horse? The super machines of the comic books? Why haven’t we built a spider legged monstrosity that can walk with computer controlled precision through houses or forests to deliver forest fire stopping capabilities or flood rescue facilities bar none?
Have you seen the true size of a super tanker or the full engineering extent of a valley spanning bridge? Why are there no such sized ‘weapons’ against pollution by plastic in the pacific basin or oil spill cleaning tools in the main oil delivery lanes of the highways of the seas?
… because human kind has intelligence.

What has big machines got to do with money and its way of locking the social structure?
The same lock on society is also a lock on capital projects.
The very capital projects that offer viable solutions to a single planet’s people, flora and fauna.
With the system in place today, with it’s locks built by monetary controls, economic theories, power structures seemingly solely based on amounts of cash available, it is no wonder that World problems of pollution, population, decreasing resources, etc., are being left to our future heirs to sort because the powers of today cannot have all they want if everyone gets as rich as they are overnight.
More to the point though is that pride and position over others cannot be maintained by money alone if the power of money is removed.
Imagine how many crimes would stop happening if everyone had enough money!
But it won’t stop whilst money is in short supply.
If you lock a system whereby, without money there are no goods or services, then that system cannot work… especially if that system is based on historical performance and artificial controls… controls that are often in the direct hands of people who have their own personal agenda’s… which often include large amounts of money - which have to be siphoned out of the system somewhere - creating a shortfall somewhere else.
At the moment world leaders are talking about taking about a hundred years or more to just break the boundaries of actual poverty. The Millennium Declaration Goals of the United Nations - many to be achieved by 2015 were shown to be totally inaccurate based on the actions of signatories to it in the few years after it was published.
Countries put their own people first and themselves first - it’s a human thing J
There is a way of rebuilding the way money is used so that it never gets in the way of creative living or even the simple necessities of human, animal or plant life - let alone the planetary needs of a group of fauna and flora and history like we are - we deserve to live and enjoy because we are unique and amazing - leaving the tools to do that job up to a set of old era based economic ways instead of building a new, working system for the modern era is not only criminal on any world scale but also wasteful and backward thinking.
How and when are we, the world, ever going to
Feed, clothe, educate and supply the world?
Get off world and colonise the planets?
Colonise the sea?
Make sure we don’t loose any more creatures or plants of this planet?
Capture for posterity everything that is happening from now on?
Save all world languages?
Sort out all the mental health problems directly attributable to living and working in a bad system
Let alone anything else each of us wants that we cannot do or have at this moment because of the severe restraints that money imposes - certainly in the UK if nowhere else (I can only talk about the UK because this is where I have spent most of my life).
If your life has allowed you a direct plug in to normal financial lifestyle tools then you will have credit, debt and work that pays just enough to keep you going whilst you build up a stock of money for retiring or speculating.
If you don’t live in this way then usually you live in debt with little or no money to add to a steadily increasing bank roll and no way to aim for anything other than drug and drink induced hilarity or sadness and anger.
If poverty was a lonely thing, suffered in silent, boxed in solitude then maybe poverty would only feel like a lack of a few things but, when confronted by multimedia presentations of how good life can be if you have money then poverty becomes unbearable - especially when you know that with money you would be alive and capable instead of barely just alive.
At the moment most world systems are run on the trickle down effect - huge sums fed in to a single person who then trickles it through his fingers down to the next people down the line who, in turn, trickle it through their fingers etc. The effect of this is to ensure that the top few get all that they want whilst making sure that those at the bottom get little or nothing because of the abstract concept of quantities… as each person lets some of their money go what they retain becomes less…. In a world of unknowns and costly prices for some of the simplest dreams you never know how much you might need in reserve - you never know when the next large dollop is going to land - so each of the tricklers withholds just a little bit more than they need and before you know it the bottom is coping with full drought whilst knowing, deep in their hearts, that money would solve their problems - would allow them to eat, to sleep safe, to grow and expand.
There is not enough money in the system at the moment to cope with any major new needs of the planet. There is not enough money now to cope with the needs of the poor. There is no more evidence than that needed. If something is dying somewhere because of something that money could buy then the system is failing.
But there does seem to be a way that keeps everything fairly balanced and doesn’t create waves except where waves need to happen… There are so many systems and sub systems running in this world at the moment that re styling money would only enhance what is happening - being designed to do exactly that - enhance.
Enhanced Capitalism - where money is only an accounting and performance tool - no longer a life or death tool. Where everything is capitalised when it has to be - Where each individual has a respected part to play in the whole, even if that part is not instantly apparent.
Each and every life is special and individual and important. Look around - it’s rare stuff - nothing as far as our life finders can see - light years and real years of time spent looking and no one yet.
So we have what we have. A whole ecosystem which we can learn to balance with but not while one lot of men are trying to kill off another lot of men.
Capitalism will always have its adversary because it is designed as an aggressive system - has had to be in order to gain ground - yet people don’t see that none of the money side is necessary in life at all - except maybe as a metering system with regards to the system as a whole. Money can be all of the things it is at present whilst being a readily available substance - like air… not like gold or diamonds or a Faberge egg.
This move effects quality of life in the profoundest of ways - Things change and they change fast. All the other systems and subsystems support the change - or are adapted to do so.
How does it work?
Take away the right of any country to starve any of its citizens of the currency of that country.
In five years time give everyone in the world an account with 1 in it.
Then add on 1,000 zero’s.
Between now and then start talking about what will happen… prices staying the same etc… actual and relative poverty explained….
Build lifelong learning tools into the account - and easy access to answers and desires, needs and even whims within reason and possibility…
Ask workers if they will stay on after five years or walk off … and sort other workers to take their places…
Sort out the ramifications of such a drastic change in world running… five years of talking and sorting…
Thank some of you very much for the true depth of friendship I would have hoped to find whilst living a life on this planet.

Wend has just left for a concert / festival thing called Cropredy, Fairport Convention's own folk festival , but before she went we were sitting in front of the view eating toast and talking about life in general.
It was then that I decided to start this bit of this blog with that word.
Imagine being a nobody who is quite happy to be what he is but he has it stuck in his head that he has to follow through with something that could help a lot of people to have more enjoyable lives ... and all that.
So, banjaxed over something that is going to be or not, i wonder out into the light of a bright new morning - been up since 7.15am. Beautiful day.
