Please ask UK Climate Minister Chris Huhne to keep the World Bank out of climate finance at the Cancun summit.
The issue of who controls the funds that are meant to allow developing countries to tackle climate change has become crucial in the last few days at the UN climate talks in Cancun.
Rich country governments are trying to force the World Bank, which they control, into the driving seat. Developing countries and global social movements are calling for a fair climate fund managed by the UN. Shockingly, there are rumours in Cancun that the UK is pushing the most strongly among EU countries for the World Bank.
Yet the World Bank is undemocratic, has a record of promoting fossil fuels, and gives most of its assistance in the form of unjust loans.
We’ve joined a new global campaign to keep the World Bank out of climate finance.

Please email Chris Huhne, the UK Energy and Climate Change Secretary, now.
