Social media can seem overwhelming, especially when you’re starting from scratch without any followers on your profiles.
Creating my own blog for women business leaders has been an eye-opening experience — but it proves that anyone can use social media to promote their business. In the short time that I’ve had this blog, I’ve gone from zero to 3,000 followers! And, in the process, I’ve connected with business colleagues, friends, and many others. I’ve excerpted my favorite 12 from the original list of 25, and I encourage you to try as many as you feel comfortable with:
- Enable social sharing
Add buttons to your blog and other website pages that allow visitors to share your content on social sites like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.- Share quality content
If you have high-quality and interesting content on your blogs or social media pages, you’ll get more followers.- Encourage your employees to follow
Ask your employees to follow/like/subscribe to your social media profiles.- E-mail signature
Add links to your company’s social media profiles in your company e-mail signature. Create a signature template that includes these links and encourage your employees to use this signature as well.- Blog comment signature
When you make a comment on a blog post, create a link to your most active social media profile (Twitter or Facebook) in a signature-like style.- Cross-promote
Add your Twitter link to your Facebook page, and occasionally tweet about your Facebook page.- Facebook: create a “Like” box on your website
Install a Facebook “Like” box on your website, your blog page, homepage, and other high-traffic pages.- Twitter: Twitter directories
Add your company’s Twitter profile to Twitter directories under categories that are relevant to your company.- Twitter: talk to people who mention you
Track your brand in social media using HubSpot’s social media monitoring tool or Google Alerts.- Add Links on your LinkedIn profile
Add a link to your most active social media profile in your links.- Newsletters and lead nurturing
Include links to your social media profiles in the footer of any company e-mail you send out, including newsletters or lead nurturing e-mails.- YouTube: embed your videos
If you have any videos that you’d like to share on your website, add them to your YouTube profile and then embed those YouTube videos on your site.I know I’ve used many of the above tips successfully. To see the full list of tips check out the original article:
