Those who don't feel they're sharing enough can now sign up for a Citibank Clear.24.7 card, linked to their Facebook account and earning awesome badges of recognition.
Not just badges, the Clear.24.7 card offers coupons and the usual loyalty points to Citibank customers in Singapore, but it's the social integration the company is pushing, offering to elevate one to a "Social A Lister" by way of checking into related businesses and telling everyone else how great the offers are.
The nausea-inducing video sails right to the edge of parody, and should be enjoyed with the volume up where possible:
Badges arrive based on where one has checked in, using the Facebook application which ties into the card. So one's Facebook page gets adorned with a "Runway Star" badge when one has (publicly) visited five fashion boutiques, ensuring all your mates know that you've been clothes shopping and can respond appropriately when they next see you.
The credit card isn't sharing everything you buy, after the Beacon debacle Facebook won't be doing that any time soon, but the card is PayWave-enabled, so at some point one could check in using the credit card rather than a mobile phone and Facebook.
Tech In Asia reckons there are 1.5 million Facebook users under 35 in Singapore, so if all this has left you wondering what the world was coming to then it's probably because you're too old to understand, just like we are. ®
