Cannabis campaigner Dakta Green has been sentenced to eight months jail, on charges relating to the possession, supply and sale of cannabis.Green was operating an Auckland warehouse called The Daktory, which was closed after two years openly selling marijuana.
Appearing in the Auckland District Court this morning, Green rejected the judge’s offer of home detention, instead opting for jail time.
A group of Green’s supporters had gathered outside the court this morning chanting “free Dakta Green”, holding signs that read ‘Cannabis is a medicine’ and smoking marijuana.
Green plans to appeal the sentence.
