10 Most Dangerous Keywords on The Internet | Webupon

The security company “McAfee” has researched on what keywords are the most dangerous and likely to take you to sites with viruses or attempted identity theft. The experiment was based on USA’s Internet.

Research provided by McAfee analyzed more than 2,600 of the most popular search terms in 2010 on the basis of information from Google Zeitgeist and Yahoo’s “2008 Year in Review”.

According to the subsequent analysis, the most dangerous keywords to search for in the U.S. is:

10: “Solitaire “

9: “Phelps”

8: “Free Ringtones”

7: “Printable Fill in Puzzles “

6: “Game Cheats “

5: “Free Music “

4: “Torrent”

3: “MySpace”

2: “Lyrics”

1: “Unscrambler”

The Internet search engines are crucial regarding traffic on the network. And hackers are not stupid – they can also spot where they should focus in order to get the most benefit. Like pickpocket thieves have the best chance at a busy street, it’s the Internet criminal’s aim to get hold of as large an audience as possible. The more network users – the more opportunities to spread the virus or malware.

Network users’ actions are also very crucial for the danger they may experience. It may be that if you try to download a ringtone to your phone or log on to a site where the name, address and other personal data to be recorded.

Beware of plug-in’s

Network users seeking free music are easy targets for hackers because they are willing to take risks. They’re willing to download things that they might not be 100 % sure of what is.

And there really is danger in most of the popular keywords. That’s obvious. For example, the risk of ending up on an infected website is 14.8 % with the keyword “lyrics“. That means 14 (nearly 15) out of 100 found sites on the Internet takes the user to potential trouble.

A search for the keywords “online games” are also risky because the found sites often prompt the user to install plug-in’s before you’re able run the game. Remember this, and you will be very safe on the Internet:
